Salt:

Salt can be mixed with a bit of tooth powder to give your teeth a shine. Dead cells that build up on the surface of the skin can make it look dry and dull. A gentle scrub with a little lemon juice and any essential oil is a good monthly exfoliation process; it brings back the glow to the skin. Salt can also be used as cleanser by mixing it with olive oil. Washing your face frequently with salt water helps in preventing pimples and acne.

Sugar:

Sugar is yet another ingredient that is used to exfoliate the surface of the skin . It also helps in softening the skin. Make a paste by mixing sugar with lemon juice and honey and rub it hard on rough elbows and knees. This makes them soft, clear and supple. Sugar stimulates new cell growth as well. In addition, it is used as an important ingredient for facial masks and scrubs to give a relaxing effect to the skin.

Oils:

Almond, olive or coconut oil are essential for great hair and skin. Almond oil is both relaxing and nourishing. Olive oil can be used as a skin moisturizer, night cream or lip balm. Coconut oil is still the best nourishment for hair. You can also use it as a bath oil. Massaging your body with the oil before a bath helps in retaining the skin’s moisture.

Eggs:

Apart from a good hair conditioner, eggs are great for the skin too. They have the proteins and essential ingredients to nourish the skin. You can blend the yolk with olive oil to cure dry hands and feet, while the egg whites can be used by itself to tighten the skin. Egg shells can be kept on bathroom shelves to avoid lizards and insects.
